Let Me Introduce (or re-introduce) you to The Bluetones
This week’s spotlight is on a band that has been around for 14 years. The Bluetones are a four man (sometimes five) band from Hounslow, United Kingdom. The band is made up by Mark Morriss, Adam Devlin, Scott Morris and Ed Chesters.
The Bluetones were an important part of the Britpop movement with the band’s hit single, “Slight Return.”
“Slight Return” comes from the number one album, “Expecting to Fly.” The Bluetones has a total of five LPs out, the latest self-titled album released Oct. 9, 2006. Mark Morriss has ventured into solo projects but the band continues to perform music.
Although then end of Britpop was not kind to the Bluetones, as with many of its starlets, they continue to evolve their music but stay true to the Irish-like twang that sets them apart from any other Britpop artist.
When listening to songs from their latest releases- most notably “Slack Jaw” from 2000’s, “Nature and Science” LP, you could almost put The Bluetones in an Alternative Country sub genre with the likes of bands like Limbeck.
