The Chemists are the current opener for The Bluetones “Learning to Fly” tour. The five piece band, formerly known as Uncut, originate from Bristol.
Their latest single, “Radio Booth,” is currently available on NME.com and their official MySpace page. The single officially drops December 8. It includes a remix of “Haunts” and “This City.”
“Radio Booth” is an ode to those DJs who talk and think they know everything, yet have no knowledge of music at all.
I won’t lie, once I stumbled upon this band this morning I have had their MySpace page open all day. I hope you enjoy as much!
If you’re in the UK catch them on the few remaining dates of their tour! Nov 26 Edinburgh - Music Hall Nov 28 Peterborough - Cresset Nov 29 Gloucester - GL1 Dec 01 Norwich - UEA Dec 02 Portsmouth - Pyramids
The Arctic Monkeys have joined the line-up for the Big Day Out music festival in Auckland on January 16.
“We’ve been twice and both times it’s been our favorite country to play,” drummer Matt Helders said. “We’ve always wanted to do Big Day out, but we’ve never managed it with timing.”
The band is currently in the midst of completing their third, yet untitled, album.
“We thought it’s a bit unorthodox not finishing the album, but why not just do it and think about everything else after cause we’ve never been out in the Australian summer,” Helders justified.
The new album is set for release some time next year, Helders refused details.
“It won’t be the same again, but that’s all I can really say,” he said.
Belle and Sebastian will soon surface after a short hiatus following 2006’s “The Life Pursuit.” The new project is a film soundtrack titled, “God Help The Girl.”
Stuart Murdoch broke his silence on his official Web site stating, “I’m aiming to master all the ‘God Help the Girl’ songs by the end of November. I think there are 18 of them. It’s a good feeling to think about making records, sleeves and schedules.”
Last year Murdoch summoned singers for the project. The only names leaked thus far is Neil Hannon of The Divine Comedy Fame (featured in the film and on the soundtrack) and Asya from the Seattle-based indie pop group, Smoosh.
In natural Belle and Sebastian form, no other details are available.
