This weekend was full of research, but the fun kind. NEW BANDS RESEARCH! In my journeys throughout the Web I stumbled upon The Enemy.
The Enemy are currently recording their follow-up to their debut, “We’ll live and die in These Towns.” The album is set to be released in April 2009. The band is working with producer Mike Crossey of Arctic Monkey, Razorlight and The Zutons fame.
The band are preparing to embark on their largest headlining tour. The 22 date tour journeys across the United Kingdom in March and April. They will then be one of the opening acts on Oasis’ highly anticipated summer stadium tour.
The Enemy have gained much recognition as NME and Q’s Best New Band. They also won’s XFM’s Best Debut Album award. “We’ll Live and die in These Towns” went directly to number one on the UK charts upon release.
This isn’t normally the way I roll… however, I have to make this exception.
Today I caught the end of Paul McCartney’s BBC Electric Prom on a station I’m totally jealous my parents have on their digital cable. At the end they showed the video for his song, “Ever Present Past.”
This song and video are absolutely amazing! There’s something about this upbeat early Beatles-esque song that makes me happy. Maybe it’s the fact it sounds like a poppy rock ‘n roll song. Maybe it’s the fact this man who is old enough to my grandpa is rocking out, dancing and looking like a dork all while not caring!
Sir Paul looks like he’s having so much fun and I am, too just listening. I had to share it with all of you.
Snow Patrol gave Argyll and Bute TV station permission to use their song, “Open Your Eyes.”
The station, launching in January 2009, is a pupil-led station used on Dunoon Grammar School TV.
The station will use virtual studio technology to create a weekly magazine-style broadcast full of interviews, musical acts and news.
Scottish star, Dougie MacLean also donated his song, Caledonia to the students allowing them to use it in an ad for the station.
Isobel Strong, spokesperson for the project, told BBC News, “This is the first TV station of its kind in Argyll and Bute and the children and staff involved in the project must be congratulated for their efforts.”
Kings of Leon, Franz Ferdinand and Paul Weller have been confirmed for the 2009 Benicassim festival in Spain.
The festival, in its 15th year, will be July 16-19 on the east coast of Spain. With acts like My Bloody Valentine, Babyshambles and Morrissey, the festival has become a favorite of UK music fans drawing 150,000 attendees last year.
The event is mainly controlled by London-based live music entrepreneur, Vince Power. Power use to have his hand in Mean Fiddler Music Group until he sold his share to Denis Desmond in 2005. The group is now known as Festival Republic.
A limited amount of advanced tickets for Benicassim are available until the end of January via seatickets and lastminute.
Rumors are flying wild that Robbie Williams will be joining the upcoming season of X Factor. Williams is said to be replacing current judge Rumors are flying wild that Robbie Williams will be joining the upcoming season of X Factor. Williams is said to be replacing current judge Dannii Minogue. Williams would join alongside current hosts Cheryl Cole and Louis Walsh to create “dream team.”
Although the rumor has not been confirmed by any party, Minogue is not worried about her current status. “The producers and Simon tell me I am returning, so that’s all I believe,” Minogue said. “So unless I hear differently then I’ll be back.”
A spokesperson for the show said, “No decisions have been made about contracts and no decision will be made until next year.”
Digital Spy reported, regardless if Williams is a judge or not Cowell would love to have him on the show.
“He’s still one of the biggest stars in the world. He’s great,” he said.
